About
My dissertation is about the American "crisis of confidence" of the 1970s and the roles of television, print media, and professional discourse in remaking what it meant to be American at that time, from the national level to the nuclear family. I'm looking particularly closely at Roots, Sesame Street, Mr. Rogers Neighborhood, and Diff'rent Strokes, as well as the public and professional discourse that surrounded them.
My commitment to interdiciplinarity and public humanities is reflected in my work with Boom: A Journal of California, which published its first issue in March 2011. Check it out at www.boomcalifornia.com
