About
I study the behavior and evolution of honey bees using integrative experimental and theoretical approaches. My past research has focused on division of labor, task allocation, and pattern formation. Chief amongst my results is that task allocation can operate via a self organizing mechanism that couples localization and diffusion processes. I have also conducted much research on honey bee division of labor, culminating in a new integrative model for this phenomenon. I am currently working on a number of projects. I am conducting comparative and functional genomics work on eusocial evolution, while also writing conceptual reviews of social insect biology that place great emphasis on integrative approaches.
